My turn to share my JOY!

Yep I'm going to be a little upset on Tuesday

it is friday and I just got my 17" PB

I picked it up from the company that got it for me as part of a project I did for them with my art.

It is awesome to be a Mac user!!!

I was walking out of the company they had this guy a "temp" give me a ride to the train station...

I said thanks for giving me a ride to the station... he replied, "I'm a TEMP I get to do all the Bull***8..."

I was kinda taken back that he felt forced to give me a ride as part of his temp work?

Then he told me he just got a Gateway for $800

I did not know what to say... I felt a little bad...

---

I got over it

One the train:
Just as I'm about to get home the train was standing room only... this kid was standing near me with an earbud so I knew he had an iPod... He saw me looking at the white wire going into his pocket... with out a world
he pulled it out and gave me a better look...

the I picked up the Black Box near my feet...

him: You just got that? -
me: Yah! -
him: Sweeet Machine, I got a 12" at home...
me: cool, I need an iPod that looks sweet.
him: man thats a sweet machine looking at the black box again...

---

Yeah I'm going to get upset on tuesday but I will get over it.

the company had already opened the box to check everything and had me sign papers saying I got it.

So I'm going to enjoy it.

I still hope Apple blows this away on Tuesday
I want Apple to keep growing... I will wait for a rev B G5 PB

I have yet to turn the PB on... let me go play

Congrats on the new PB! It's been a week now since I've upgraded to the 17. People at the office can't stop looking at the PB. The iPod is a nice addition as well. Couldn't find a 40GB anywhere, so I traded my 15GB back in for a 30GB. Have fun on your new PB!

I did something stupid and lost iDVD

Software Update has Mac OS X Update Combined checked so i clicked install
but when I restart it would not boot

I had to use software restore to install the old OS now iDVD is gone

I did not know i could not use 10.2.6 on the PB... not sure what went wrong?

besides the last few hours of software update confusion, I love this thing

where can I find iDVD?

Are you sure it didn't install iDVD (check your applications folder) but just didn't put an icon in the dock?

If it's not there, there should be a disc labeled "Applications" that has iDVD and some other apps on it.

Congrats Naz...you finally got it! Now you know how excited I was! Sorry about your problems...you say you can't instll 10.2.6 on it. Why not? I haven't done the update yet...maybe I shouldn't.

nope I'm back on my iMac now

man the screen is so different

yes I gave up on 10.2.6

I'm having some very bad issues with the PB

I started over and restored 10.2.4 and yes I think I lost iDVD

I only have a software restore disk and a free DVD-R 2x

I'm on my iMac because I gave up, I downloaded safari and some other updates and unchecking 10.2.6 at restart after the system boots up when it should be showing the desktop I only see a blue screen

no desktop, no dock

I wish someone at the company did not open this now I have to wonder if they dropped it or I'm missing something

Is it not charged? All this was while plugged in.

I did the same thing with a new 17" - I formatted the drive and started with the install dvd to install 10.2.4. I upgraded to 10.2.6 and, yep, lost iDVD. I've got the i Suite (whatever they call it) somewhere, so I can reinstall iDVD. I purcahsed an open box at CompUSA and didn't get the dvd media. Doh! That's ok, I'm still pleased.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. When I got my PB, I also reinstalled the OS with only the options I wanted to run. Rather than going through the Software Update for OS X, I got the update CD from Apple. Also with iDVD, if you don't have it in your Software Restore CD, then you may be forced to purchase iLife. Wish there was something that I can do to help you out.

I'm glad you got it up and running!!! So what's up with 10.2.6? Was it just a fluke...or should I not upgrade either?

I will try 10.2.6 tomorrow from version tracker

right now I'm testing the "MILK" Theme (using the blackmilk edit)

Very cool

now to play some DVDs while I calibrate my Battery

It is working much much better Minty Fresh loving my PB now

I will try to read more about the 10.2.6 problem before trying again

What are you using to change themes and such? I'd like to start getting into that. I tried I think it was Theme Changer...but it gave me an error while installing. Sorry...can't remember what it said...I wasn't too concerned with it at the time.

Also if you or, anybody out there can tell me...is there a way to change icons without using a downloaded program like Candy Bar?

GUI Customization section of this forum will have all the answers you need

it is best to read all you can before you start to do this

I was testing it out on my iMac for weeks
before so I felt it was safe to try on the PB

using themechanger and other software is best so you wont mess up things as bad and going back to default (aqua) is easier that way

you can make things look just the way you want

Naz,
Congrats on finally getting the 17". I've been using a 15" for some time now and I am still blown away. I am interested in the customization theme that you are using. Can you post a screenprint so I can see exactly what you (and Mintyfresh) are talking about?
