there must be PLENTY of old 17's around
that might be much less money....
does anyone think that?
and, if so, can we EASILY update them to PANTHER?
and....
where's the L3 cache
WHY did they do this to us?
why was something DOWNGRADED?
i heard the "you win some/you lose some" on a previous thread
but i do NOT understand this
however....
i see we finally have our 2X dvd burner
and the USB 2.0 (like over other $900.00 PC computer in the last year)

what to do
what to do
what to do

well, there are likely some around. i doubt they are really that much cheaper.
they absolutely, definitely, certainly, without a doubt will be upgradable to Panther as easily as any OS update is.

They'll definitely be some clearance sales on them at various Mac resellers w/ backstock...and I'm very puzzled at why Apple left out all L3 cache on all PB's as well.

If you can find one, good luck. They've been on short supply for weeks.

Apple refurbs. are some of the most solid machines you can buy...they even come w/ a normal 1-year warranty too. I wouldn't think twice about buying a refurb. from Apple.

Before you start shopping for re-furbs, check out MacMall.

MacMall has the 17" (BRAND NEW) for $2,794 PLUS an EXTRA 512MB of RAM (totaling 1GB) and no TAX. That is a $500 price drop and think of the cash you'd save on RAM and TAX on top of the $500 cash.

…better hurry, they only have 271 of them left.
