1 Year ago I bought the Powerbook G4 800 MHZ and within months they introduced a faster, dvd burning capable, version. I was so pissed because the upgrades were so many (across the board)

The Good News:
Well at least this new update to the 17" only seems to have the following improvements:
1.33 Ghz G4 with 512K cache, I'm sorry I don't see this as a dramatic increase in speed. I'm willing to bet that besides spec tests, everyday usage won't see that much of a difference. Also is that a genuine 1.3 processor or overclocked?

Third it seems that it has usb 2.0. (well what usb devices do you really use that require 2.0 (you can get a pc-card usb 2.0 adapter.

The best news I think is the fact that the 15" has changed dramatically, if you were waiting for the new 15" because the old 17 was too big, now you have no excuse.

But I'm just glad that the new refresh did not obsolete my 3400$ purchase just a few months ago (April). What do you think about the update? Doesnt make me want to upgrade my machine just yet. I think i'm good for another year. What do you other pb owners think (17").

I'd say the 12" PB and 17" PBs released in Jan. '03 aren't made obsolete by the updates at all...I'm holding onto mine. I think mine will be good for at least one more year from now, if not more.
