All of a sudden, well I was cleaning my the top of my ibook today... and now my trackpad won't work...

well sometimes it does. with an external mouse, like i ahve, it works fine.

But the trackpad works off and on.

You know I try to drag it and it just gets stuck going the wrong way.

any reasons for that?

If your iBook is still under warranty then I would take it an Apple Store and have them look at it for you. I've never heard of this problem before (with iBooks) let alone it being caused by cleaning the iBook. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Sounds to me like the logic board or you could have a loose connection. I think cleaning your iBook was just happenstance. Run disk utilities and see if it comes up with a display problem. Either way, you need to send it in to Apple Care.

My problem, and my little workaround. Haven't bothered trying to fix it yet thought.

Edit: Despite the problem with the trackpad I too could just plug in a external mouse whenever this occurred. With the el-tape everything works smooth BTW.

thanks for all the help.... it might have just been me forgeting to restart after I plugged in my external mouse... but since I posted this, it has been back to working fine.

On a side note, I feel the iboos trackpad and button are much better than the powerbooks... espically the new ones... the 12inch seem to have jagged issues and I swear someone is going to cut themselves trying to double click a porn link.
