That really sucks. I was staying away from the 12" for that reason. I guess it won't matter now which model I get.

People need to chill out. There is L1 and L2 cache on the chip. 512 L2 cache is good. Having cache on the chip means it is accessed much faster than L3 cache on the board anyway. It's plenty fast, so just buy one and enjoy it. If people keep waiting for the perfect end-all-be-all computer, they'll never buy anything. You can see the computer I have and I'm very happy with it. I guess your mileage may vary depending on how you use your computer.

L2 cache is better than L3 in terms of speed, increasing it's size is great. But also keep in mind they upgraded the speed of the RAM too. The big L2 and faster RAM I think more than compensates for the lack of L3.

I head L2 was better on TechTV today and it confused the hell out of me because many people here are complaining about the lack of L3

I happened in the Michigan Avenue Apple Store today (Chicago) and chit chatted a few of the genius types - they were shocked there was no L3 cache on the new units.

They have new 15" and 1 new 17" in stock. Go figure.

Yup, the speed of the L2 is faster than the L3, so with the increase size in the L2, it's really better that way.

I have an 867 PB12 w/ 256 L2 Cache.
Will the new 12PB's w/ 512 L2 Cache make a HUGE difference?
