So I installed all my software. These puppies won't boot up in anything less than 10.2.7. Took me a second to realize this.
It comes with a system 9 so I thought it woud boot in it. I ran Change Startup Disk... Asked for my password, said it was okay to restart, restarted and now I'm stuck with the question mark. It won't boot with the CDROM of Notron 8 nor DW 3.0, nor will it boot with anything external cause all my externals are 10.2.6 so that's not cool.
I can't boot anything off this Mac anymore.
Anyone has any thoughts ?

Have you tried holding down the option key at boot (right after the startup chime)? That should scan all your disks and give you a choice of folders to boot off of.

What happens if you do a boot holding the option key down? I thought that it should then ask you to select the boot volume?
sorry geekwagon beat me to this..

I already tried both of those.. holding option will just give U the same screen U'd get normaly but without any options to select from. holding the X key will just boot into a blank gray screen.
Where I'm pissed is that when I bought the mac I asked the person at the mac store if it booted in 10.2.6 and they answered me YES... which is not true...
still searching but it looks like I might have to do a re instal...

Sorry to state the obvious...but it also came with 10.2.7. You must have gotten a restore CD/DVD with it. That will boot it...am I missing something??

As I said, the 10.2.7 CD will boot but wenb I run disk repair, it just gives me an error saying it can't unmount the drive.
And also, as opposed to OS 9, when U boot from that CD/DVD, it doesn't allow you to select what your startup disk will be. In other words, when booted from the Cd you don't really get a "normal" finder. So that doesn't work.

Based on what you said happens when you hold X down, I am guessing your OS X system folder is honked up in some way. Probably have to reinstall off the DVD. It won't be destructive though as long as you don't tell it to "erase and install."
