I am looking for a Bluetooth mouse and am not haveing a lot of luck finding one. I would like a simple 2 button and scroll wheel mouse that is bluetooth. I saw the multi button Microsoft one but that is expensive and I dont need all those buttons. Thanks for any help.

Are we sure that 3rd Party bluetooth mice will work? It seems like a while back people were having problems with Logitech mice.
Anyone know?

Belkin announced a Bluetooh mouse (web site not updated) but it has four buttons. More than you need.

I guess what I meant by working is this:
Do the 3rd Party mice require you to use their "base station" to transmit the bluetooth signal? Or, does it work out of the box without any cables or extra hardware much like the Apple Mouse would?

The M$ mouse does appear to work with PBs and system 10.2.6. Not sure about these others.
I would love a medium 'simplicity' mouse -- Apple's is too simple, and M$ too complex and big.
Now that all of the PBs are BT, I hope someone will make a cordless version of my small notebook mouse from CompUSA.

Do we have confirmation that the Microsoft BT mouse will work without using MS's bt dongle. I want to use the internal bluetooth in the powerbook.
Another question: how much quicker does battery drain when using BT?

someone needs to truck in to a Best BUy or CompUSA with a couple AA batteries and fire one up and find out...
...in-fact, when MedAl shows up next week I may do just that.

The issue of the M$ mouse was raised in a Macintouch thread awhile ago. An Apple knowledge base article mentioned that this mouse works with the new PB internal BT but required os 10.2.6.
In addition, one reader posted a testimonial that it did work.

Logitech just came out with the bluetooth MX 900 see here
Good: Based off the MX 700 which is a great mouse.
Bad: The charger acts as a bluetooth basestation, while nice for those w/o bluetooth, adds a lot of cost to those of us who have it built in.

More Bad: Doesn't seem to have any Mac software. So how can you program the buttons yourself?

That's really cool because I'm using a MX as well, and I really like Logitech brand. But... that base station is really pointless, yet we have to have it as it serves as its base station... Wish they would make one without the base station, I would buy one in a hurry... but I guess I still have to wait a bit longer until 3rd party companies start making those... Apple in my mind is still stupid when it comes to mouse design, one button... no scroll... what in the world are they thinking? Ok, it would be ok if all you are doing are office and daily stuff, than the one button mouse would work fine. But for us that plays games, we can't use one button mouse, it makes the game a lot lot harder to play. But I guess Apple still doesn't care about how the Mac gamers felt about one button mouse.

The Microsoft BT skips on my 17". Its OK for internet and light duty but you will get blown away trying to play Max Payne and other games. I thought I found a nice 2 button Belkin BT but the link is on my job. Perhaps someone could re-check the belkin site.

I looked at their website and check on their mouse products. Didn't see any mouse that are BT based.

Well you can always take the base for the mx900 and leave it home or something on a desktop or even just for rare times when you need to recharge and keep the mx900 itself with you.
If logitech has brains then it's a standards-compatible mouse and will work fine with any bluetooth card.

How long does the mx900 last before you need to recharge it? Man, I rather not have to take that base around with me, it'll only get in my way. I guess I'll just have to wait another 10 years before Apple will finally make a 2 button mouse.

Not all the wireless mice work the same. Most wireless mice (the ones that use radio frequencies) don't function very well for playing games. Apparently something to do with the number of times the mouse updates with it's receiver or something like that.
The Logitech MX 700 was advertised by Logitech to solve that problem with more frequent updating, and thus "high accuracy".
See http://www6.tomshardware.com/consume...x_mice-10.html
Having owned previous Logitech wireless mice, and now the MX 700, the difference is very noticeable even in non-gaming usage, and I dearly dislike using the older wireless mice.
The Bluetooth MX 900 is advertised has having the same MX engine, and thus hopefully has the higher accuracy of the MX 700. The Apple/Microsoft don't mention whether they are good for gaming. Personally I wouldn't buy any Bluetooth mouse unless it had the higher accuracy of the MX 700. WMMV.

Ironic the ONE major computer vendor that has BT built in standard and you can't even buy a mouse for it from the 12 companies that make mice.... BT mice even!
Sheesh!

I don't know why but this BT mouse I mentioned is not listed on the Belkin site:
http://www.pcconnection.com/scripts/...SourceID=k1479
It does have 4 buttons which is cool with me because I am a bit of a gamer anyway, but it is kinda high priced. They advise to call for availability.

Alright here is my question for the MX™900 Logitech mouse.
I noticed the basestation comes with it, thats cool because you obviously need to charge it from time to time.
But is the basestation required to run it though?
Say I leave the basestation at home and take just my powerbook and mouse along. Will it do the job, or does it take the charger to work too? Does it have an adaptor? Also the website site states nothing about mac?
I'm really debating on canceling my bluetooth mouse from apple.
I'm basically looking for something with more than 2 buttons, and will work good with games while being bluetooth. No usb adaptor hook ups and bullshit like that.

"Its with a usb adaptor"
From what I am reading it can run without the adapter.
"...supports most Bluetooth profiles, and compatibility with Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, and Mac OS X v.10.2.6, while still being the less expensive solution.
...Setting up easily and requiring no separate desktop receiver,..."
Personally I would go for the logitech because the wireless I have works great even with games and the new BT mouse looks way cooler than the Belkin.

I see, I really like the logitic or microsoft one, but I hear there are problems with them.
I just wish someone could confirm if their are drivers for the logitec bluetooth mouse for macs.

AWWW man... the Logitech looks like its only for PC's. Bummer...
Also this requirement for the Logitech has me puzzled:
"System Requirements
IBM®-compatible system without Bluetooth pre-installed"
System must not have BT pre-installed? Hmmm...

Now that Apple has really gotten behind BlueTooth, we can be sure that it will only be a matter of time before 3rd developers start putting out BT peripherals. This reminds me of USB, until Apple started using it, it really did not catch on even though USB had been on PC's for at least a year before. BT has been out for a long time now, and it still has not really caught on, Apple is pushing it and I bet you in two years the amount of peripheals available will have exploded. Apple is smart to have put it into it's laptops, that is were I will be using BT the most.

Actually the mx900 isn't due out to the end of october.
Also might I add, I did come across a site that did say it worked with apple products. My frist speaks french, so he read up on a little bit.
http://www.valcenter.ch/product_info...oducts_id=2057
Notice the windows and mac logo. This is at a website that sells it, so I would hope they are right.
It comes with a 5 year warrenty?!?!?!
If I can find out that this works with a mac, I will drop my bluetooth mouse order through apple in a heartbeat.

There is no way in Hades I will ever buy a single button BT mouse. I will definitely wait for a 3rd party.
