I thought I would post and say hello to everyone, I've been a lurker for a long time, learned a lot, need to learn a lot more! I put in my order for the new 15" PB last night after I saw the updated Apple site. I've been waiting like everyone else for this day to come! Here's what I bought:
____________________________________________
PB w/ SD, 1gig o' ram(2x512), 80gig HD(5200)

Office X for mac (student ed.)

.MAC account

10gb Ipod w/ $200 rebate
-----------------------------------------------------

Since I go to school, I got the ed. discount and the back to school deal was too sweet to pass up.

I'm selling a HP Omnibook 500 lappy and a 2.4 P4 desktop if anyone is interested..hehe...Die Microsoft!!!

I think I have everything to get me started, does anyone have any input as to what else I might need? Things I have on my list to purchase soon:
_____________________________________
EXO Iskin for Ipod

PB sleeve for 15" Albook (Anyone???)

Car charger/airline charger

Transpod FM for Ipod

Icurve lappy stand

BT wireless Keyboard and mouse

Airport Extreme Basestation w/modem
---------------------------------------------

Am I missing anything? This is going to be my all-in-one solution for home/work/school/wife/etc...

Any input is greatly appreciated

In before Assassyn

Congratulations! You'll love your new 'book.

As for accessories, get what pleases you. I do like the iGo Juice which is an AC/auto/air power adapter that works with Powerbooks and most any other laptop.

I can also report that 5 years after buying my first Powerbook -- and lots of accessories --, I have a closet full of expensive doohickies that don't do me any good now, and have almost zero resale value. Just a thought.

Just an FYI.....You can usually get Microsoft Office for like $20 in the campus bookstore vs $150 on the web.

Also an FYI...

You could save some serious money (and potentially avoid a few headaches ) if you DO NOT buy the Apple airport extreme basestation...

There are plenty of third party basestations that will work better for a fraction fo the price.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I can't wait until it gets here!

Runningduck: I can't go to the campus store because I'm a full-time distance ed. student. I'm in the Air Force currently stationed in Iceland! So, I do everything online.

m2bored: Could you recommend a basestation (or 2) that could accomplish everything that the APExtreme can do? I need the modem for sure!

I had a 12" Ibook for about 6 months awhile back, so I know some basic stuff in OSX, but I'm pretty much a newbie. Can anyone recommend a good book for OSX and just the MAC world in general?

Thanks in advance!

m2bored,
I too have recently bought a new powerbook 15 with airport extreem card. You said there are many other decives that are much cheaper than the airport base station. Could you recommend a few? Thanks.

You can call Apple directly and maybe they'll give you the educational rate if you have student ID or whatever.

Last time I called they didn't even bother checking, but maybe that's because I was calling from within the institution, I dunno.

Hahaha!! you mean noone has made the whole "acronym" or "it's spelled this way or that" speeches yet? GOOD!

back on topic: I have the Airport Extreem Base Station and I really like it a lot! I plugged my printer into it and with very little effort, all connected computers could print to it. Plus, the software is all built into OS X specifically for the Airport, I would recommend getting it.
My Computer: MacBook Pro 2GHz, Mac OS X 10.4.5
