just bought a new TI.. but yeah I could return in within ten days...

still really want to see these new powerbooks to either make me feel better or worse...

So how hot is the 15 inch? Espically compared to the Ti if you know.

For me my ibook is the perfect temp.

The 12 inch powebook is way too hot for my needs.

apple doesn't have that to my knowledge... it's 10 days or you own it, that's their policy... i think you are referring to most retailers...

here is what it says

RETURN & REFUND POLICY If you are not satisfied with your Apple purchase of a
pre-built product, please call 1-800-676-2775 for a Return Material Authorization
(RMA) request within 10 business days of the receipt of the product. If the item
is returned unopened in the original box, we will exchange it or offer you a
refund based on your original method of payment. The product must be returned to
the Apple warehouse within 10 business days of the issuance of the RMA. All
products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging including any
accessories, manuals, documentation and registration that shipped with the
product. A 10% open box fee will be assessed on any opened hardware or accessory.
If you purchased your order using an Apple Instant Loan or an Apple Business
Lease, you may be asked to provide a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, or Discover) for Apple to assess the 10% open box restocking
fee.

Please note that Apple does not permit the return of or offer refunds for the
following products:

1. Product that is custom configured to your specifications
2. Opened memory
3. Opened software
4. Electronic software downloads

so as long as I don't open the box, I can exchange it or return it for the new powerbook...

I went back and forth for an hour after they realeased them.. told myself to wait.. but for 2000 for the model I wanted 2 days ago that was 2300 it was hard to pass up.

so at least now I have it.

I can't wait to check them out and see them in person.... see if they blow me away.

I live in NYC... I called the apple store and they claim they aren't on the floor yet...

I'm hoping compusa, apple store, or tekserve will have them in the stores by Saturday....

the same day I should get my Ti

If you read Apple's terms and policies, they will assess a restocking fee for any opened hardware. Of course, they may or may not charge since it depends on certain factors. If you do this at a store, you may be able to convince them in person not to charge the fee.

My 1.25 15" albook is wonderfully cool. I ran it all day and no fan and the bottom is only warm. The top is barely warmer than it is when the machine is off. I had been using a 600mhz iBook and this machine is barely warmer. I'm extremely impressed.

No heat issues with this Powerbook at all.

awesome.

this is making this so hard....

but thanks for the info.

both great computers, but I thought i knew...

i got a great computer for 2000, i can get another great computer for the same price but i will lose the superdrive for the same amount of money....

I got the older version, but I think the top of the line Ti book compared to the 15 al with combo drive is a tough debate.

Just to confirm, the Apple SoHo store in New York has the 1.25 on display, and it was mostly cool to the touch in all areas. There was a warm spot on the bottom, but nothing extreme.

I can't wait to get home and pick mine up from the reseller.

I just got a powerbook 15in 1.25ghz and it runs cooler then our 550 15in Ti. Its very nice except my latch is already broken on the first day, but i'll live (except when i loose it for 2 days to get it fixed)

The latch is still that flimsy magnetic thing? like on the Ti 500s?
