who is making the ram that apple is putting in their new aluminum portables? I need to know so I can advertise these 2 256 meg chips that are coming in mine to sell them off on ebay. Anyone thats looking to max it out to 2gigs there are some sellers online selling 1 gig sticks for $188, but I am always skeptical when it comes to ebay. Does anyone here think I am making a mad move by selling the 512megs of ram off and getting 1 gig of ram? I mean isnt 512 plenty of ram? I dont know anymore and would be interested to see an xbench test with the same 15.2" with 512 and then with a gig, hell and one with 2gigs. Guess we will have to wait and see for that one. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been getting crashes with the message; "restart your computer now" so I ran a Hardware test and found I had bad RAM. I currently have two 256mb PC100 SODIMMs inside and thought I'd replace the bad chip with a 512mb chip. They (CompUSA) said I wouldn't find a PC100 in 512mb size. He claimed he services nothing, but Macs and has had many problems trying to use 512mb PC133 chips inside my Tibook. Go figure. I replaced the bad chip with another 256mb chip and I'm running very well. I don't know what difference 1gig could make other than it's my understanding that Jaguar (and Panther) could use as much RAM as you can throw at it? Good luck!

I'd get at least 1GIG in my PowerBook for sure...I *think* the RAM Apple uses is either Samsung or Cruial, regardless, you can eBay it is as "official Apple RAM" so you should be good to go.

Both my Ti PowerBooks came with Samsung chips.
