If it's using a different kind of G4 do you think it will run cooler or the same as the Rev.A due to the extra speed?

I just don't know what PB to buy and the heat issue of the 12" concerns me. And does anyone know if the new Alu 15" runs hot as well?

Well, I have a 15" Ghz Ti. It has always run cool to the touch. The bottom is even as cool or cooler than the old Pismo I had. The fans, however, are much, much more active than on any other PB I've used.

Early reports on the 15" suggest that it too runs cool. I've yet to hear anything about fans.

Anyone?

I bet it'll run about as warm as the Rev. A, not much cooler...but have you used one for a prolonged period of time before? If you have shorts on, or any sort or pant covering, it doesn't get to warm it causes unconformt. I own one of the first batches that get the hottest, and even I can honesty say that about mine after 2.5 hours of constant laptop usage.

There's the possiblity that it could run cooler than Rev. A, but until someone actually posts firsthand experience from the Paris Expo, we will have to wait until they start shipping.

Lowering the size of the chip from .18 to .13 should offer decent heat reduction due to lower voltage requirements, less heat produced and less power consumed. For example, although this is a graphics chipset comparison and not a CPU, when ATI transitined from .15 to .13 with their Radeon 9600 cards which replaced the 9500, they were able to get rid of the requirement of additional power from the PSU and the non pro model didn't even need fan on the heatsink. Plus Motorola mention a low power version of the 7447/7457 which runs up to 1ghz which would be a good candidate for inclusion in the 12" PB.

That's interesting. I think I may wait until they have started shipping to see how people get on with them. I wouldn't be using it on my lap but I'd heard the palm rest gets very hot. I guess I'll just have to suck it and see!
