Research the forums on this, its been covered. It appears to work on the 12" models.

And there is a reverse-patch that will let you undo the "upgrade" on the 12", should you have a problem.

On the 17" models, someone on here #$@%ed up their 17" powerbook doing it, and it apparently doesn't work anymore so be ultra careful with the 17" as there is no firmware "undo" available on that model for some reason.

I just run it on a Ti 15" 1Ghz and works as advertised.

I only suggest this for the Nov 2002 TiBook and Jan 2003 12" PowerBook owners. Don't do it on the 17". Even if it does work (which it should), the benefits are not as significant. The Jan 2003 17" already supports DVD-RW, and there is no backgrade to DWDB. There is a backgrade to D0CB though, which is the firmware on TiBooks and the Jan 2003 12".

Don't do it on the new AluBooks either, because they use slightly different drives, and already have all the features that D101 provides. (UJ-816)
