Just starting a thread to keep track of which resellers get/got the new Alu2 (my name 4 them ) books, (in all sizes) in the UK.
I think it's going to be about 2 weeks before the first will be available to buy in the UK at the moment. The Apple store has told me they were available "immediately" and then when I mentioned I wanted educational finance, they said that would take two weeks to sort out, which would be great as the PowerBooks should be available then just what IS their idea of immediately available, more like immediately not available )
I'm a bit jaded about this after ordering a CTO 1.8 G5, I've just cancelled the order now, as they promised to ship within a month (& changed/put back the shipping date 4 times), and have put back the shipping date by a minimum of two weeks now, and can't actually give me a definite/ recommended/ expected shipping date anymore!
They reckon there's a problem on the line, the only difference my order had from a stock 1.8 G5 was the Rad 96Pro; strange.
Anyhow has anyone in the UK been able to buy/seen 4 sale any of the new Alu2 books yet?

square in london had about 5 but they were only for sale for their special customers...

aparently apple allows them to order "blindly" that is without knowing what's coming at the expo BEFORE they are announced. so they ordered 5 and they're already allocated to certain people...

i hate those "certain people"

on the other hand micro anvika says by the ebd of the next week.

Anyone know of a Reseller that offers a student discount (the proper, one similar to the Edu apple store discount, not the piffling 2% offered by soem resellers) and does buy now pay later, interest free credit terms?
In the UK (obviously) and ideally in London but anywhere in the UK will do, I know Computer Warehouse do, but I'm wondering if there's any others?

Nah, just kidding

Is any outlet (in the U.K.) likely to sell it for less than Apple's "recommended" price?
Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.

I buy all my stuff from Jigsaw who are helpful and the prices are about as low as you can get these days (i.e. not much lower than RRP). I'm looking to get a refurb iBook if I can, then upgrade to a 15" next year.
