Hey Dudes
I ordered my next 'puter today through the academic coop in Montreal, and it's sweeeet, baby sweet!!!
ALbook 15" 1.25 superdrive oh yeah. With that funky backlit keyboard,
hmmmmm....aaaahhhh..yeaaaahhhh...
Just surveying here what the delays might be for others that ordered a new gen PB. Cuz the guy at the coop sure didn't know squat so...

Drooling on "the rock"... I ordered a paired-down 15" SD model (60 GB, CDRW-DVD) online via the educational discount on Tuesday afternoon. The estimated ship date hasn't changed since the order, which is exactly one week later.

I ordered Sept. 19th and have:
Est. Ship 09/26/2003 on my 15" 1.25Ghz
Est. Ship 10/03/2003 on my 10gb iPod
Shipped 09/19/2003 for the printer. They seem to be shipping piece by piece, which is sort of cool I guess as I only paid for one shipping fee.
The educational bundle rebate expires the 27th of September, and I was told to print out the email invoice things you get, as they will be dated before the expiry.
Did anyone else receive similar instructions to make sure you made the deadline?

What is the educational rebate that ends Sept. 27? I always thought they always offer discounts towards students and faculty unless this is some other offer?

Ahh, yeah, I noticed that. When I click on Educational Discount, it says that you can get up to a $300 rebate off of a bundle but I don't see that option (for say an iPod).

I am from Toronto. I ordered the educational bundle on 9/16 from apple online store. The 10gig ipod and the printer shipped on the same day. The 15" computer was delayed and was scheduled to ship Monday, but it shipped last night. So I should be expecting all my goodies to come next week since I upgraded to the 2 day shipping. I can't wait.
Cheers

I went to the store at my school and asked about this. The offer still applies to the new 20GB and 40GB ipod models. I ordered mine yesterday with a PB and the guy said the rebate definately still applies.

I wasn't give any instructions. I got my Canon printer already, but my iPod is taking forever... (10GB.. 10/01/03)... Apple wouldn't DARE not letting me get the rebate.
I will print the online invoives though and have them ready now...

Can you please tell me the total amount you have paid including the rebate for this bundle? Also, I'm having a hard time finding out how to purchase this bundle as a Canadian student..ie...where do you buy from to get the discount. Also, is this student discount as big as the apple student developer discount?
thanks for answering...!

Here is the list of my items purchased online:
1x 15" 1.25GHZ G4 (stock) around $3300 CAD
1x 10 gig Ipod $379 CAD
1x Canon I450 printer $129 CAD
The total price I paid with tax (Ontario) and 2 day shipping is around $4300 CAD. The rebate for the educational bundle is $390. You must make a purchase before Sept. 27 to take advantage of the bundle.
Details and the mail in rebate form about the bundle can be found here:
http://www.apple.com/ca/education/
To access the Apple educational store, just click on the Apple Store link on the top in the above webpage.
I hope this helps.

I placed a 15" BTO order last Tuesday, unaware of this promotion...
So today I called the Apple Store, asking if I could still take part, as my estimated ship date is sometime today. I was told the order was just about to leave the warehouse, so I could, but I had to decide now, as once the items ordered leave, the order is closed. Needless to say I did so -- what a friggin' deal!
To buy a new 10GB iPod (standard price, including 15% tax) for most Canadians, it would cost roughly $504.85. To buy the same product via Apple's Educational discount (same formula) you're looking at $435.85. Throw in the $300 rebate, and you're paying $135.85.
(By the way, you don't have to purchase the printer to get the rebate on the iPod... Rebate forms have to submitted within 30 days of the date on the last shipped item. My iPod has a ship date of Oct. 4th.)

I also placed a BTO 15" order with my campus computer store last Tuesday. I think I might run down to the store and add an iPod to my order.
But I have a question. On the rebate it says on the first line that you must take possession of the products before Sept. 27th. So doesn't that prevent me from getting the rebate if my order doesn't arrive on or before the 27th?

The Apple representative I spoke with (over the telephone) said something about that date being pushed back, due to the demand this offer is generating, not to mention some of the qualifying items are on back-order.
Go ahead and call Apple for your own benefit, but in any case get yourself an iPod! At this price, you'd be crazy NOT to do it.
Especially those who qualify and have never owned one.

Ok...I just got off the phone with Apple Canada. The people there are so friendly!
Anyway...after transferring to different people I finally got an answer from someone regading the Sept. 27 deadline.
I was told I can order a powerbook and iPod and put down a deposit to prove that I am commited to your purchase. Then when you recieve all your items, send all your invoices and UPC code, etc. for your rebate.
Hopefully, this will all be done before the dealine!
So I now have a BTO 15" 1.25GHz and a 10GB iPod on order. Please come to me soon!

I have been waiting anxiously (like everyone else) for my 1.25 Ghz 15" since i ordered it on the 16th through Concordia University. I'm going nuts today and since it's my birthday tomorrow I kinda want it soon. I also got the "on or before the 23rd" deal but since I'm going for the single 512 I'm not sure how much longer it will.
My patience will be rewarded but Yeah.

I just got off the phone with a FedEx agent... My PowerBook (as well as 94 others) left Taoyuan City on the 25th as a group shipment, and arrived in Winnipeg earlier this morning. Most FedEx international packages go through customs in Montreal, but since it was a group shipment, they went via Winnipeg, for what ever reason. Bottom line -- most of you should receive your PowerBooks on Monday!

Yey!
Maybe one of the 94 is mine!
But too bad I have to be powerbook-less this weekend. I was hoping to play with it this weekend.

My university's computer store called me today to tell me my Powerbook 1.25 GHz BTO and 10GB iPod came in!
Woo hoo!
I'm typing from it now. I love it!
It's beautiful. The Combo drive scared me cause of the loud sound it makes...hehe...but that's ok.
