Okay so i base this on going to a store, unplugging the new powerbooks and reading how much time was left..

the new 15 inch said it had 1 hour and 30 mins

the 12inch said 3 hours and 30 min... then in seconds dropped to 2 hours and 30 mins...

Go me thinking... what is the best battery time (REAL TIME) that you have gotten on an apple laptop...

Espically like to hear from Ti uses, ibook uses, current PB users...

seems instead of keys that glow in the dark, they should invent a battery that is at least a solid 4 hours on a single charge w/o even trying....

Are you trying to base your premise on the dumbest damn argument imaginable or was it an accident?

You start off announcing that you've conducted no repeatable or demonstrable test. You're complaining about something you didn't even take the time to seriously investigate.

I can easily get four to four and a half hours on my 12" Powerbook's battery. My friend's iBook could probably beat me by about half an hour. Said laptops can get decent battery life and still be usable systems.

Under the "Highest Performance" energy setting the processor speed is set to "Highest" both on and off the battery. This is a major power sink on a laptop. A "Reduced" processor performance setting will easily add half an hour to your base "Highest Performance" battery life. Dimming the screen to 1 will get about another half hour. Just those two settings add an hour onto my base 3 hours on "Highest Performance". Disabling all my network devices (done via a Location setting) gets about another half hour to forty five minutes. A couple settings and I'm pretty close to the advertised 5 hours.

Running full tilt on "Highest Performance" will get me about two and a half hours on a fully charged battery. I can watch a two hour DVD on the battery and still have quite a bit of juice left. Even my old Lombard could do four hours on a full charge, that is with a three year old battery.

With Airport off and dimming my screen to around 3/4 I get over 3 hours on my TiBook 500Mhz. The battery will be 3 years old in March.

But I'm betting an iBook (700 Mhz) will get the best battery life.

I could get about 5 hrs on my iBook 800. On my old Ti800 and Ti867 I could easily get 3.5hrs.

I've had my 12" PB since early Feb., and I still get 4-5 hours - processor highest, AirPort on, browsing, chat, mail, photoshop. =)

Isn't logic swell? It gives answers without really answering anything!

Okay, I picked up my PB 1.25 today. So with the battery uncalibrated, it was at 80%.

With Max Performance setted, max brightness, Airport On, BT off, running Finder, Mail, Safari, iChat, and iTunes.

Battery bar displayed 1:00 left, but real time passed was 1:33 before it went to sleep.

Keep in mind, this is uncalibrated and w/ only 80%. I am expecting w/ Best Battery Life setting and dimmed screen I should be able to pull 3 hours.
