Finally got my Al Book (insert cheer here).
Compared to my Ti book, the latch seems very flimsy. Does anyone else have a problem closing theirs?
Mine doesn't want to latch right away it seems.
Thoughts?

Same here, though my wife's seems to have no problem. Everything else about the laptop is extremely solid, though...so I'm going to see how it goes. Once it latches its solid.

i just got a 17", and i've noticed that compared to my bosses 15" TiBook, the screen/latch/lid does not really want to stay open (it flops around)
is there a way to tighten up the hinge so that it is less loose? perhaps i should post this as a separate post?

Apple actually improved the latch on the 15" over the Rev A 12" PB. The release is no longer inset and sticks out so you can push it with your finger. You also don'y see the latch at all after the lid opens. It is much more solid then before. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You just need to get the feel down for how to close it.

Perhaps, but I don't think so. I had both the Rev. A. and B. 15" PB's and the latch worked much better. I think the magnet just needs to be adjusted on the receiving end to pull the clasp a little HARDER. I'm sure this is a relatively easy adjustment.

While I don't have the new 15", I did have the latest TiBook. The bumpers on the screen (if you could even call them that since they did nothing) with the Tibooks didn't leave a gap at all at the front; the screen and base of the laptop pretty much touched each other when closing it, so latching it was easy. Now with the AlBook designs, there are better bumpers which now leaves a gap, which probably requires a little getting used to.

Latch fix:
Take a magnet, and where the little "hook" comes out at the top of the LCD, coax the latch out. Now, work the little latch in and out, grasping it gently between your thumb and index finger... though this can take some dexterity since the latch will want to spring back into the bezel. If it does that, just use the magnet to draw it back out again. Work with the latch a few minutes this way and it should work flawlessly.
