Has anyone in Canada specifically in Ontario ever replaced an iBook battery for Late 2001 and on iBooks? I've been trying to get my iBook battery replaced for the past 3 months now but it seems that I have to (according to Apple) take it in to an authorized Apple service center to have it looked at and they want to hold it for atleast a week and a half. I can't go with my iBook for that long because it's my primary computer. Has anyone been able to get around this and just get Apple to send them a new battery. My battery lasts less than 45 minutes on a full charge, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a portable computer.

I had my iBook 600 combo (Nov 2001) battery replaced under AppleCare about 9 months ago by Apple Canada. I live in Toronto. I said the battery life had gone from 2.5 hours to about 1.0 since I'd had it. I told them I had let the power drain down to zero, rebooted, reset the power manager, let it recharge fully while not using, then let it drain down to zero again. They need you to do this to find out where the problem is. If it's still lousy after this, your battery is hopeless. Apple sent a replacement battery and then I mailed my old one back in the same packaging. I had no problems getting Apple to replace the battery under AppleCare.
