I'm looking for a sleeve-ish case. i have a nice brief case that was an excellent gift, it's an expensive Tumi laptop bag. I want to use it, but as i am not working yet (just re-located) and i have a new powerbook, i dont think ill carry an expensive leather tumi bag to a coffee shop with me. So i am looking for something lightweight, protective and styled. I've found these two. I'm looking for comparisions or similar bags that someone might have found. Thanks

I would recommend the Waterfield sleeve. I had one with my 12", and have one on order shipping maybe Monday for my 15". Waterfield products are made very well. They are also made in the USA, and not China.

Welcome, you can ask all the questions you'd like!

Tumi is awesome - I can't tell you how many Tumi bags I have - don't be too worried about using what you have. They work very well and do a great job of protecting your laptop.

I just picked up the 17" Tumi bag for my 17" and it's great.

Yeah, I posted this exact same question ealier last week.

I went with a "sleevecase" from Waterfield.

http://www.sfbags.com

Ordered it Thursday, it showed up the next day, Friday!!!!

It's nice... Exactly what I was looking for.

I went with the vertical design, so I can leave the AlBook plugged in to the AC, while in the bag.

Now all I need is my friggin' 12" book!!!

Question for you. Do you carry this around as case for your powebook, or do you put it in something else. I take it there is only fabric around the edges of that case right?

The reason I am asking is because I have a nice northface packpack that i would like to carry my powerbook around with, but im afraid I might crush it due to the ~50 lbs of books I carry around with me therefore I will probably need 2 bags I take it.

Do you see this offering good protection or would you suggest picking up their cargo bags if I am going to be trucking this thing everywhere with me across campus?

Thanks

Check out the Zero Shock sleeve--I don't know anyone who has one, but it sure sounds great:

Edit: oops, I put in the wrong link...here's the correct link

I am also looking at getting one of the cargo bags from waterfield. I would love to hear from anyone who has one of these and what they think of it. They are pretty expensive, but look like great bags. So anyone own one? Tell us what you think!!

I mainly got it for when I'm using it around the house; i.e. slip it in the sleeve when it's NOT being used. I have a bag that I'll be using when I'm lugging it around, but the sleeve will just be an extra layer of protection.

It's constructed VERY well. Very "cushioniony"...

That and this will function as a heat pad, if the 12" AlBooks really do get that "hot".
