Hi, I just bought a second hand TiBook 400. It's a little scuffed up. But everything seems to be working. The only real problem I can see is that the pc-card slot ejector has been boken off. Is there anything I can do about it? Work arounds?

It's not that big a deal, because I don't have a use for it, But who knows?

{edit}

The lower case just under the dvd drive doesn't seem to be seated correctly, there's a gap. Can I just unscrew the bottom and re-seat it?

i'd say check the manuals at apple.com/support and open it up! you don't have warranty anyway and worst case it will look the same after you put it back together. just get the torx screwdriver that fits or you'll mess up you tibook

Yes, you can take the bottom off. That's how you get to the HD and the airport card, which are user installable. There are pdf docs on the Apple support site that will show you how to do it, or you can instructions for the xlr8yourmac.com website. Once you've taken the bottom off, you can see the PC card slot, which might tell a bit more about the problem.

The airport range on the Ti-400 is pretty dismal, so if airport is important to you, you'll want to get a wireless PMCIA card, like the Cisco Aironet or perhaps a new 802.11g card. That's one of the main reasons for getting the PC card slot fixed.

Airport isn't important right now. Though I might look into it in the new year.

I can see the where the ejector should go when I remove the keyboard (I had to do this as there was a compact flash card in an adaptor stuck in there, a freebie It's now out.) I'll take a look tonight.

I'm guessing that if you use a wireless card with a built-in antenna (and the big protrusion from the slot), the ejector won't matter, since you can just pull the card out by the antenna-portion.

A very good point that.
