Well, I'm sure you all know that none of the temperature sensing applications currently around work with the newest iBooks.

Anyone know of one that works? I'm not aware of one, and it's quite annoying.

Australian summers are absolutely brutal, and I'd like to know how hot my machine is running...

You could stick a microphone in the ventilation grill and run a pitch detection program...you'll recognize a hot CPU by high-pitched fan whirring coming directly from the iBook's hinge. I had to hear this all day long throughout this summer.

Stink different.

So, is there still no temp monitor that will work for the iBook 900? I've poked around a bit, but I still can't find one.

Cheers!

From what I was told and have read from other post, the G3 CPU doesn't have a temperature censor. So you wouldn't be able to use any of the temp monitoring programs.

So, what triggers the fan? Surely there must be some sort of temprature monitor in the computer (even if it is too 'dumb' to be read by the OS).

Cheers!

This is the information I found about why temperature monitor doesn't work on the G3 iBook.
