Fantom drives own. I got one and its got the same specs as what you need.; Look at my signature.

Its the titanium one and it is 7200RPM their is also the standard case but i wanted a smaller HD so got the titanium model of the fantom drive. Only 20 bucks extra i think. Very nice price.

I'm looking for a similar hard drive about 120GB but I want it to be portable. Size really isn't a big thing so it could be medium sized, I just want it to get its power from the computer. Is there anything like that for cheap?

check out the fantom drive i was telling you about its got a very nice price tag. I specifically stated i got it for mobility even though i dont really take that sucker anywhere. I save some deskspace and can take it somewhere if needed.

I can't find one that does not use an external power suppy. I want to be able to run this on the go and not need an outlet

It's going to be hard to find a high capacity high RPM drive that will run off of bus power. I the the biggest and fastest that will do this are 80gig/5400 drives, I think.

I have the USB version of the "Mercury Express" external enclosure (from OWC):

http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_It...=OWCME910FW911

It's cheap ($50), silver, thin, and does the job. No frills, but it came with a travel pouch and cable and it does match a PowerBook OK. You put whatever 2.5" drive you want in--I suppose some drives may need external power: my USB case has a port for an optional power adapter, but the drive I put in it does not need that. There are 3.5" cases there too.

(Scroll down to "FireWire External Enclosures.")

There are also dual USB/Firewire versions, and versions PRE-loaded with a drive:

And OWC sells bare drives too--I can't comment on the prices: I've only bought the case and RAM there.

I use 2 ICECUBE firewire-cases with both the same happy WD120JB drives in them. 7200rpm, 8mb.

I can't see why I would upgrade to FW800 as this works fine. however..swapping between the external drives would go twice a fast

Fire 800 for video me thinks.

Don't know any which don't require external power.

I've got a couple of rubberised lacie drives, which power from firewire, nothing over 40 GB though.

Next one I'm thinking of is:

This one looks good - anybody got one?
I have Mac
