I order a reburbished Powerbook 15 Ti, 1, SD, all the goodies for 2166 is what is turned out to be with tax.
But since I ordered it last Tuesday I have been debating back and forth.
It jsut got here at 4p.m. this Tuesday, yet I still can't decide if I want to keep this computer.
I live in NYC and I'm near an apple store and I was told I could return it to the store if it is unopened.
I like typing on a portable, but I rarely ever take it anywhere.
So I was thinking of getting an iMac and using Final cut Pro 4 on it.
then buying an ibook clamshell because I used to love to type on those things and use that for when I want to write long works.
What do you think?
I guess it might cost the same in the long run.
I just really love the iMac for web processing and if I have to stare at a computer screen all day, it is a great one.
But I love the ibook for typing.
Is it stupid to have a powerbook if I dont' intend to travel with it?
I bought it mainly for space reasons.

I live in NYC too, and after about a month of typing on my tibook, i can't stand desktop machines now
the screen on teh ti is way better then the screens on the imac we have at work... the tibook is faster as well.
the toilet seat imacs.. blah.. i don't like them.. slow slow.
honestly you have a great machine, i wwould crack that sucker and enjoy the heck out of it.

I haven't had a desktop mac since 1995, but get what makes you happy.

i'd say stick to the tibook. speedwise the difference won't be earth-shaking but being able to pick the best spot in your apartment for working, or going out and working somewhere else if there's too much noise (or junk) is something that you'll get used to in just a few days!
i think i would not have been able to keep the unopened box sitting there for more than a hour :-)

stilll haven't opened it yet.... the 2 appple computers that I wanted more than any of them were the clamshell and Ti book... but now time has passed and the joy has worn off.... I was just used to them both... but now I've gone feel circle...
I think I just want the clamshell to play with... I just just open the Ti box... and then buy a clamshell for the hell of it.
But I found for 1400 an imac wiht superdrive, and a clamshell is about 450 or so... so that's 1850 compared to 2166.... and I still need Final Cut Pro... so the cheaper the better.

Keep the Tibook man, you won't regret it. I've had mine for over a year now, best computer I ever owned.

I regularly use several 17" iMacs also. IMO the Ti is better.
