After much deliberation, research and listening to forums such as these, I decided to cancel the order for the new 12" powerbook and placed my order for the 1.25 15"...ships tomorrow!
This was a tough decision, but I think in the long run this baby will be able to handle anything I could throw at it....I want to edit video, maybe even use some maya stuff later....
I figured with the new 15 I could really grow with it without worrying about outgrowing it.
I hope I have made the right decision, I just could not wait what with the deal on the ipod and all, plus I have been waiting for a couple of months for an update of the 12.....
New graphics, reports on the screen (I LOVE a crisp, bright screen!) was a big thing, no reported screen lags, smoother graphics...etc...I guess I figure I could grow with this one more....
I hope I'm right.

I think you made a good decision.
One of the obvious big differences between the 12" and 15" is the screen. I have had a chance to work on one of the original TiBooks for a while, and that extra screen space on the side is handy.. it does not feel so cramped. You also mentioned that the new screens are brighter, I think that is another important selling point.
Hmm, I also think another significant difference between the 12" and 15" is the graphics card. With twice the RAM, and much improved performance, the Radeon 9600 is a much better card, and if you are planning on getting into Maya later on, this is the way to go.
And ya, the 1.25 Ghz G4 gives you a bit more room to grow, and the faster RAM makes a bit of a difference too.
Ya, I'll restate, you made a good decision. Congrats on your purchase

Good choice.

Ya, I was debating the 12" vs 15" too. I decided on the 15" 1 Ghz, mainly because of the screen and video card. It arrives thursday!!!

I was debating the 12, but since I was planning on doing video I decided on getting the 15. Nice video card, big screen. I looked at a 12 at a computer store and it was hard to read the text. The 15 was bright and beautiful (much like myself--haha!). The 12 seemed warm, too, and I've heard nice things about coolness of the 15", apparently because Apple moved all the connections to the sides and left the back for ventilation. And it's supposed to be quieter. I got the 1GHz model, since it was 500 less and I don't really need a super drive. My first Apple! Looking forward to it. So long, Monoposoft!
