I'm buying the new 15" today and am curious if the paint issue was ever resolved on the Ti toward the end of the product line. I assume they've cleared it up for sure in the new Alu books. Right?
I have an end model Ti and don't have paint issues.
As for the new Al, we'll it would be nearly impossible for paint to chip since the aluminum you see is the actual case and it's just anodized. The anodized layer could begin to flake off but that would mean a severe problem during the build.
Anodization has been used in the automotive industry for years and thise parts are subjected to far worse punishment than your laptop should ever be.
You Al is not scratchproof. I have had two scratches and one "chip" in the finish from someone dropping a camera onto my closed laptop. Yes, I beat them severly for that...
