this is from the apple site:

SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW): writes DVD-R discs at up to 2x speed, reads DVDs at up to 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at up to 16x speed, writes CD-RW discs at up to 4x speed, reads CDs at up to 24x speed

so i am wondering which firmware that is. cause the first 17" dudes can only burn 1x DVD. I am wondering if apple uses cynikals patch :-))

The new 17" has a different drive. It's the UJ-816 (vs. the UJ-815) in the older machines.

Yeah, it's a UJ-816 with DXJ3 firmware.
