Ordering my 15'' tonight with a 40 GB iPod (Hope it isnt that much bigger than the 20) and a printer for the combo deal. Just wondering if I should get the APP or not? I think I will sell the 15'' in a year or so when the G5's come out, and that's how long the coverage lasts for. Just don't know whether or not it would be worth it.... Also, is 512 MB suffcient enough? I will probably upgrade to 1 GB in 6 months or so and I also ordered the 5400 RPM drive instead of the 4200....

You can wait and not get AppleCare until your year is almost up. I wouldn't bother, if you won't even have the machine then! The buyer may want to get it--and may need some documentation from you re the purchase date. Or get it yourself to make it worth more?
As for RAM, I always recommend MORE than 512 MB: OS X likes that and performance is improved.
See my RAM advice here:

Enjoy your new Mac! And iPod.

Oh, I wasn't sure that you could get APP before the year is up. I was hoping that, but didn't think it was the case....
I think I'll stick with 512 MB for now and then upgrade later when I get more money.... Thanks for the link!
Does anyone have a picture of the 20 GB and the 40 GB (or 15 and 30) side by side? I want to see size difference.

Check Apple's specs, but I think it's .63" vs. .72", which you can estimate with a ruler. It;s about 1/8" thicker if my numbers are right.
The pics at Apple show the thin one. I prefer the thin ones, but neither one is big! And double the HD space for backups is nice.

so, would it become active at time of purchase? or only til the end of your year FROM purchase? ie if i buy now and then get APP in aug 2004, will coverage be until sept 2004 or aug 2005?. . .and i thought it was 3 years coverage?

some people are like slinkys: they don't do much, but are fun to push down stairs.
