Well from all the reading I've done, I seem to recall that the community as a whole had decided that the GHz TiBooks no longer had paint issues. Is this correct?
The reason I ask is it seems that the paint has come off around the screw in the bottom left hand side of the screen. I have also noticed that just below the trackpad button on the lighter part of the case it looks like some of the pictures I've seen where the paint is just barely beginning to bubble or come off. It seems to be the area exactly where my thumb rests while using the button.
So has anyone else had paint issues on their GHz TiBook? I couldnt find any on this board, which also supported the idea that this was no longer an issue. However, these books have only been released for just less than a year now, so the problem may still start to appear.

Actually I *do* have a paint issue... the edge where my left hand rests, the same place where my watch with a metal band is on has been shaved off. Nowhere else is there any problems though, so I can only blame my watch and my heavy use of my hands over the keyboard and trackpad.

mine is also just about a year.. well 7 months, no issues so far.. it is JSUT starting to show a bit of wear.. i.e. the palmrests are a bit smoother, as is the trackpad.. nothing strange though..
i may get the clear palm protectors, but it seems to bme they got the paint thing worked out.

Yeah, my 1 GHz TiBook had some really bad paint problems around the bezel and screen hinges (see sig). I've since moved on to a 17" AlBook and haven't looked back.

I have a 667 Mhx 15" Ti and I wore the paint off the front left corner in less than 1 month -- all due to my watch band. I learned to use the Ti only after removing my watch before using the keyboard.
My lid (LCD) hinge broke and it got repaired by Apple with Apple Care ( a must for PBs!). Apple replaced my entire top panel when they replaced the LCD and hinges. That was 2 years ago, and since then I have always removed my watch before typing. The Ti top still looks like new after 2 years of use.
So -- take off the watch!!!!!!
The new 15" Al PB has a plastic "bumper" at the top edge, so it should hold up better. I'll still take off my watch when I use it, however.

Ditto here
And I had the hinge broken, all replace at Apple cost. Still I think this is a very big flaw (hinge issue)

I have a November 2002 built 1ghz Superdrive TiBook.
The paint is slowly starting to flake off around the cd slot, the hinges, and around the card slot on the left - you can actually see a bit of pale green at the edges, with black (plastic?) underneath that.
I baby my tibook, indeed have never used the card slot - have no idea why it's peeling up there.

Same goes for me. I took delivery of my Ghz TiBook in mid-November of last year. It has travelled regularly (in a sleeve) on trains, planes, buses and subways without developing any paint issues.
