Maybe it's just me, I doubt it, but I prefer the ibook, and the iMac for that matter to the powerbooks and towers of the world.
I dont' even look at the towers... the powebooks I used to think were cool, but now they lack personality.
The first iMac was what turned me to the dark side so to speak and introduced me to some of the coolest computers ever!
I still think i want to buy an ibook clamshell... used to visit CompUSA all the time to play with them... went with an ibook 500 that i am typing on right now....
I played with the 14.1 inch today and I actuallly like that a lot, but I still don't like the way they look now.
I wish they would come out with a RETRO series, with old designs that we all love, but new stuff in them.
I for one vote for the LEMON RETRO CLAMSHELL with a new 1ghz G3, 1gb of ram, firewire, but with a bright yellow toliet seat that we all love. Maybe a new AQUA... maybe blue and orange....
It's just weird how they went from all those fun colors to none.... at first it made sense.... but now I miss the choices....
I'm going off the deepend here, but I just want and think I'm going to buy an old school ibook.
Which color though?
I don't like graphite or lime.
It's among tangerine, blueberry, or indigo.
I think i prefer blueberry, but the tangerine is cool too. Indigo is nice, but doesnt' take me back to when they first came out.
I just love the "i" series!

I did like the color choices of past. I did like graphite, though. Lime, well... different colors for different tastes!
However, I do prefer the smaller, sleeker iBooks of now to the huge, clamshell design of past. I'd favor a cross-over, of sleek design and color choices, though!

I used to think exactly the same way. I was never really interested in the PowerMac towers or even the TiBook. However, with the new line of PowerBooks and especially the G5, I'm really diggin' the Pro lineup now.
I still love my iBooks though... I've got a Blueberry (rev b) and a Late 2001 600MHz combo drive model.

I'm still enjoying my Mk1 bb iBook, 3 years 10 months.
I don't think apple will do a retro series because of problems with the outer shell of the original iBook. The thing develops stress cracks. I just think of them as graceful age wrinkles myself. Also the hard plastic handle develops cracks, some have pieces coming off as a result. Small, short cracks radiate out from the tiny apple logo below the screen. And finally for some the inside of the case around the screen looks like it's growing mold in a couple of spots. What it is, is a coating on the inside surface flaking off. All these things have happend to my Precious. Nonetheless, she's a keeper.
Don't assume a totally bleak picture. The cases remain intact and do their jobs. It just superficial, cosmetic. Many cracks don't reach the surface. Anyway it's still a cool looking machine.

I see that two of you have book a clamshell ibook and an icebook.... just wondering why?
Figure you would just pick one.

Awesome post. I agree. they are just cooler computers and they just are more fun to use.
Steve Jobs came back and put an all in one computer, but an "i" in front for internet and made me a totally fan of apple, when before I never looked their way. It was all thanks to the 233 G3 imac with that round mouse and small keyboard... but man was it cool at the time.
Now the flat panels one are so cool, but in a way I'm used to them so I forget how cool they are, but man are they awesome.
