I have not received mine yet, so I dont want to jinx myself, but I know that BTO's can not be returned for refund. But if i have a problem with my screen, will Apple build me a new machine to replace it exactly? or will they only repair since mine is BTO.

Thanks

Depends on what went wrong with it. If you have bad memory stick, or a hard drive they will replace the component. If its a bad lcd panel they would give you a new (refurb?) one and configure it as you had yours. It doesn't make sense that if you have bto, and something does go wrong apple will "down grade" you machine.

OT funny thing is I ordered my 15" stock w/o any changes, so that I could get it sooner but I got a couple of those nice emails from apple stating that my pb wouldn't ship until 10/03 oh well best laid plans of mice and men.

Good Luck

There was athread recently about this email as several members had received it — general consensus was that it's an Apple ass-coverer and that your PB should ship sooner.

I hope so, but 10/03 is next Friday so even if it ships by then, I can live with it. Its when the date is pushed out two or three weeks well then thats different - i'm just excited to get it. I already sold dual gig to help fund this baby.

My first 12" PB came back from a repair with a dead SuperDrive (all within about two weeks of originally receiving it). After about 4 weeks of Apple not being able to locate a replacement SuperDrive, they finally agreed to ship me a new machine. It's been chugging along nicely for about 6 months.
