I called the store in Apple store in Michigan Ave. (Chicago) and they received some shipment of 12" PowerBook. I placed a hold on one together with a iPod so that I can qualify for the rebate on the iPod. I called the online Apple store and canceled both my PowerBook and iPod order instead, even though the iPod have been shipped. They say that I can return it to them and get a full refund, so no lost there. So, the moral of the story is: If you live close enough to an Apple store, call them right now, they probably do have some PowerBook in store and place a hold on one like I did and cancel your online order.

I'm basically SOL...

I actually have my iPod with me already, but I can send it back to them once they give me an authorization number and I would get a full refund back. That's what the guy on the phone told me, so that's what I'm going to do and get my PowerBook and iPod from the actual Apple store, which is on the same receipt so that I can qualify for the iPod rebate and the educational discount, since I'm actually a real student.
