Hi guys, I'm wondering if i should order through Apple online or through my school's computer shop.

UoT has no idea when apple is going to ship my powerbook and the people who work there says that theres no way of knowing when Apple will actual ship.

Is that true? wouldn't Apple have a estimated date on when my Al'15 1.25ghz will be shipped? If anyone have any sugestions on which will be faster, thanks.

Order thru tel.
I made the rep give me a free extreme card.
UT computer shop is really slow in processing orders. I had ordered my 12" along with a 10GB iPod from UofT three weeks ago and today they told me to pick them up-THE OLD 12". of course I cancelled my order right there and then because I have already received my free extreme card and iPod from APPLE and will receive my new 12" next week.

Look at how much you'll save through the computer shoppe though (almost $500.00). I called today and was told 3 weeks until they have stock.
people ruin everything....

Yeah, Pete (The guy I ordered from) asked if I was a student and just asked the name of the school. Didn't need an ID number or anything.... He was pretty helpful, did'nt pressure me to get anything at all.

it's funny u asked.

I had ordered my ipod+powerbook thru telephone and they pushed back my shipping date. I was thinking I might as well just order from the school and save me some time. so I called apple and wanted to cancel my order. the sales rep said sumthing like "is there anything we can do to reward ur patience?" so i said a free extreme card would be nice. he put me on hold to speak with his supervisor and then he came back and said congrats u've just got a free extreme card.

so there, i dont know if it happens too often. maybe I met a nice sales rep. maybe the supervisor was dumb on that day. I found myself to be very fortunate.

but it never hurts to get free stuff

I ordered a TiBook, and it took quite a while, but that's because ALL TiBook SD orders in November 2002 took several weeks to show up. Actually, when it arrived, I just cancelled it, because I had already bought it at CSC a couple of days earlier. (U of T let me put myself on the order list with no deposit and no requirement for me to actually buy the thing.) They just gave it somebody on the waiting list.
