Is this a good thing? I have always like the Fujitsu Drives as they are remarkably quiet. This drive does seem to perform quite well.

I did a search on the internet and it seems the drive has an 8MB Buffer!

BTW: This is the 4200rpm Drive.

Any comments?

I have the same drive in my 12" PB. It's super quiet, runs very cool, and is considerably faster than the 40GB drive that the PB came with. It was a great upgrade.

So far, I like this drive very much. It is silent. Not quiet, but silent. It seems to have very good access times, but I haven't done any disk-intensive things yet. I'm still restoring my old system state, and doing the battery calibration thing.

I'm coming of a 5400RPM drive on my old PowerBook. I hope it isn't too much of a change where it matters.

I believe this is one of two or three different brand 80GB 4200RPM HD's Apple's using in the Alu15".

If you wouldn't mind posting the ID number of the thing (you can get it in the System Profiler), we could get a sense of exactly which brand/type drives are being used and if there are any differences between them (it has been speculated that some have the 8MB cache and others 2MB, luck deciding who receives which).
