I think you have to check the documentation that came with your powerbook aside from taking the thing apart. Since the HD is a BTO option now, there's no way to answer that, say, online. As for where specifically to look, you've got me man.

If it is your Powerbook.. running OSX.

Go to About this Mac, click more info, when System profiler opens, click the tab Devices and Volumes, then click the arrow pointing to Hard drive.

A window will open showing manufacturer and model.

For even more info go to their web site.

Lately it is likely Hitachi or Fujitsu.
