Love the new 15in., tho it does seem slightly heavier and bulkier than my TiBook.

I have come accross two disappointments:

1) the latch sucks. It won't even catch at all (just fo rthis I may be sending it back)

2) when listening to a cd (to check out the speakers) I noticed that the audio was stonger on the left side. I went into the Pref pane for sound and slid the slider over to the left - ok, full left speaker - then I slid it to the right - um... stereo sound??? So when I am in the middle it is stereo with a full left channel to boot.

Has anyone else come accross these anomalies?

The latch problem seems very common - but there is a fix for it so if your machine is good i terms of screen (no dead pixels etc.) i would try the fix instead of sending it back and receiving a new one, with a messed up screen...

Thanks! I will try that (and hopefully not break the latch off!)

The 15" (and the 12") have 3 speakers each. I think I read that the 3rd (midrange-enhancing) one is under the keyboard in the middle. My guess: your right speaker is dead. So when you set the volume to the far right, you get nothing but the middle speaker's share of the sound--which isn't stereo, but WOULD sound centered!

Sounds like you need warranty repair, I'm afraid--although a software issue isn't impossible I guess.

There was an issue about the balance going off to one side when adjusting the volume by using the volume keys on your keyboard in jaguar...

Don't quite understand if it is this you are having trouble with??

If it is, it is fixed in panther....
