I have an older 12" with only VGA output and I wan't to buy a flat panel display with a resolution higher than 1024x768. I know Ive heard Apple talk about how the Apple displays are "pristine digital quality" but for a casual computer user like myself, what exactly is the difference? Is gaming ok? Or should I instead get the old Apple 17" CRT monitor and keep the PB under the built-in stand?

BTW, I'm interested in the Formac 17" brand of LCDs because they looks cool like Apple displays and are compatible with VGA.

If your PB was DVI-out you would find text to be pin sharp and a lot more readable.

Using VGA will give you a better result than on a CRT but won't be the *best* possible picture.
