this whole shipping process is a piece of crap. someone please enlighten me here...

i received confirmation of SHIPPING through an email i received from apple on saturday, the 27th. it indicated that the computer had SHIPPED, of course they supplied a bunk airborne tracking number that doesn't do anything but give me error messages when i try looking it up.

on the same token they provided me with another shipping number (shipping notification order) which i tried punching into the system and it revealed a shipment of product from a taiwanese electronics store.

i know airborne isn't open on sundays, so i patiently waited until today, monday, and kept my mind off of the 17" by watching the 49ers get their asses handed over to them by the vikings.

so sunday passes, i try the tracking number and still nothing. i called airborne express and they said that i don't even exist in their system.

i paid express delivery so i expect my machine to be here today but according to those fantastic worker bees at airborne i should expect to see my computer whenver they get it, and who the hell knows when that is.

so what on earth is going on. hopefully there is someone out there that also received a shipping confirmation last sat (9-27) and is in the same situation as i am, so if thats the case, enlighten me please so that i can at least have some peace of mind.

Congrats man! hehehe I have to wait until the next G5 Powerbooks before I have that kind of feeling again... I miss it... it's the best feeling in the world when your Powerbook arrives at your front door.

The number Apple provided isn't bunk; it's the actual number. What's happened is that AE hasn't picked it up yet, so it's not in their system. I don't believe AE picks-up on Saturday or Sunday (or whatever day it is in Taiwan), so later today, I'd think, it will be picked-up and scanned into the system.

Check later.

i never pay extra for delivery, there is too much disapointment, how they tell you it works is different to what exactly happens.

its bunk as far as im concerned. im aware of the fact that the number is 'activated' once airborne picks up apple's load, but apple shouldnt send me the number in the first place until the product is in airborne's hands and is processed into their compooper system.

This is common practice with virtually every shipper. Usually they state in the e-mail it may take 24-48 hours for the tracking number to be active. But I get your point about having a tracking number that's not active.
