is the Powerbook 15" screen basically the same as the 15" imac screen? Is it better/worse? How wide is the viewable angle?
I'm asking because the Powerbook will be my only DVD player and i'd like to be able to watch a DVD without having to mess around with positioning.

I haven't seen them both side-by-side before, but I'd imagine the differences will be:
- iMac's will have a greater viewing angle
- iMac's will be brighter
- iMac's will be 4:3 instead of 3:2 (i.e. it won't be widescreen like the Powerbook's)
- you'll be able to watch DVDs on the train with one of them but not the other

I read in an interview once that the Powerbook 17" was built around the existing 17" imac monitor... so, assuming this was true I thought maybe the new 15" would be as good as the imac's, expecially after hearing about how bright the screen is.

That might well be the case for the 17" but I don't see how it could be with the 15" iMac and the 15" Powerbook. They're not even the same proportion, let alone resolution.
My understanding of it is that desktop LCDs generally have much stronger backlights, both because they're not after battery life or the ultimate in thinness.

The new powerbook has the same screen as the TiBook doesn't it?
|

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Yep, I think so. Same res, same reports of it being brighter than the other PBs, too.
