Hello all,

I am super happy with my rev. A 12" Powerbook I purchased in July. The only thing that I do not like about the machine is that I cannot upgrade my hard drive myself. I thought 40gb would be ok, but I need a bit more.

If I have an Apple Authorized Center upgrade the machine for me will I violate my warranty?

Thankss

I would call those guys http://www.powerbook1.com/
They are great! I met them a few months ago, when they performed an upgrade on my nephew's iBook (first gen).
Did I mention they are great? You can ship your powerbook and they will ship it back next day. Just call before.

Apple's policy is unclear and even certified techs may not know the correct answer (or, perhaps, they may want your business very badly.) One senior tech at an apple store said repeatedly "Apple doesn't support that," no clarification given.

So, instead of possibly voiding the warranty, take a look at the firewire drive performance in these tests:
