So what do you think, I had to make the first exchange due to white spots, now the new one has white spots (not as bad) but it has a lot of sleep problems fequent kernel panics and a lot of other odd things. If you want to see all the problems check out this thread
http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=179805

Looking back I think that I would have been better off with the first one. So what do you think my chances are for getting a third one, should I even try? I really love this machine but for as much as I paid I would like it to be perfect. Answer the poll and let me know if you think I should go for the second exchange and try out a third machne.

By all means get one that is the beautiful machine you've paid for...

But I hope if you send it back they can get you a new one quickly. I have had a major headache getting mine replaced because of the white spots. It's been a week-long process and too many hours on the phone with Apple.. and I still don't have the new one. That frustration would be all that kept me from packing it back up and sending it on its way to Cupertino.

I will be very upset if I get my SECOND Powerbook and it's got problems.

I am fortunate enough to live within 20 mins of two Apple stores (Tysons Corner and Clarendon) I bought the machince at Tysons and they made the first exchange there. I even got to transfer all my stuff in the store. If I do try for another exchange I will be going to the other location. I would feel really bad going back to Tysons again.

Somehow against all my usual odds, I got a perfect Al 15," but I've been living with a tempermental Power Mac for the last year (not bad enough where something is completely broken, but as you said, lots of KPs and freezes and force quits). To me that's the worst thing, not being able to trust your Mac to stay running long enough that you have to save after every singe change you make. If it has white spots and is acting funny to boot, take it back!

Yep, get it changed... all of you who have faults.

You paid for perfect, not flawed machines, you should get them.

Have no qualms about compaining for as long as it takes...

If it less than 10 days old they HAVE to change it under the DOA policy...

If not, get onto Apple and unleash hell.

Well after talking to Apple again today they decided to let me exchange my PowerBook again, just have to wait for one of the local retail stores to get one in. I am looking forward to the new one. If my luck is so bad that I get a third lemon then I don't know what I'll do. It's funny though Iv'e had two lemons since Sep 16th and I am not even mad at Apple. I like the new Powerbooks and hope that I will not have any more problems.

Something else that I wanted to add is that when I was on the phone with Apple I mentioned the white spots that I have. Now anyone that looks around here or the Apple forums know about them as well as the retail stores but this tech said "I don't know anything about any white spots" I found that kind of funny since it is a big issue going around. So if anyone else is attempting to get an exchange make sure you bring up all the little stuff, they won't admitt to anything they don't have too. Good luck and enjoy your macs!
