I know there are lots of discussion about airborne on this board. This morning I received an email from Apple saying my 15 powerbook has been shipped (ordered on 9/26) and carried by airborne. Of course they gave me a tracking number. Then I went to airborne's website and input the tracking number, boo, that's what I got

Shipment Summary:
Current Status: Delivered.
Delivered on: 8/28/03 11:18 am
Delivered to: Residence Door
Signed for by:
LD FD -3380 CRYSTAL CT Get Signature P.O.D.

Shipment History:
DATE TIME ACTIVITY AND COMMENTS LOCATION
8/28/03 11 : 18 am Delivered. Miami, FL
7 : 31 am Arrived at Airborne Station. Miami, FL
8/25/03 8 : 43 pm Left Airborne Station. Boston, MA
6 : 36 pm Picked Up by Airborne. Shipper's Door

I checked the tracking number, it was the tracking number Apple gave me. In fact I just copy and paste the tracking number. Yeah, everyone knows airborne is bad, I just wanna share another beautiful story with you guys. But as long as my powerbook is on the road, I am happy

My notice came this morning and the same thing...recycled tracking number. It'll be a day or so until it reflects your shipment info and probably 3-4 days until it clears customs and actually starts updating. We'll be lucky if they come early next week...

Airborne re-uses tracking numbers rather quickly. So you are just seeing the previous person who had the same tracking number. It'll probably take a day or so for your info to show up.

I don't know why Apple uses Airborne as a carrier. I ordered a powerbook, an ipod, and a printer from Apple (with EDU discount), the printer was shipped by FedEx. Right after I received the notification, I went to FedEx's website, check my tracknumber, it was there. And it then arrived one day later. Everything was smooth. I remembered last time when I ordered an iBook, Apple used FedEx. Since the shipping is free, maybe Airborne offer a cheaper price to Apple? Who knows.

you know the only time you really like airborne after this whole messy situation is when you see the delivery man show up.

i'm typing on my new 17" and i love this thing. no dead pixels and the screen size is very nice. God bless apple
