This puppy is pretty sweet. Its not officially supported on the Mac, but works just fine (minus 2 buttons on the side). I must also say it fits very well in the hand and works pretty darn far away from my Rev. B 17", I will be using it as a Power Point clicker. My question is, how can I get these 2 extra buttons to work. USB overdrive is USB only, is there a Bluetooth equivelent?,

At this point, I'm not aware of anything that will enable those two buttons.
(I have the MS BT mouse myself. It's pretty neat. Now I just need to get the Apple Bluetooth keyboard... although I really don't like white or the cheap new construction of those keyboards... guess I'll stick with my old black Pro keyboard )

I bought the Apple BT keyboard and it actually feels great. I like the key feel better then I did with my Pro Keyboard. It's almost as nice as typing on my 15" PB!
So your comment about construction is not correct at all.

A friend has the new keyboard and it feels fine. I should clarify -- I think it doesn't LOOK as nice as the "Pro" keyboards, but its actual construction seems to be just as good.
Personal opinion/preference, though. Also, I don't care for it being white since the only thing white on my PB is the Apple logo. Not that it makes a huge difference but I'm not going to spend $70 on something I don't absolutely love.
Now an aluminum (coloured) keyboard....!

Are you using the MS Bluetooth mouse with one of the recently released AL Powerbooks ?
Do you encounter any sort of lag or skipping with the cursor?
Thanks-

Yeah, I just picked one up today too. I tried to install IntelliMouse drivers 3.0 but that doesn't work (It worked for my other IntelliMouse Explorer, exact same except for Bluetooth.)
But I heard that Panther will have support for these buttons. So, you gotta wait a month or so.

I was wondering if you notice a slight repsonse delay of a BT mouse compared to a wired mouse. My impression from posts at gamespot is that a wireless RF mouse (didn't see anything about BT) has a very small response delay that is only noticeable during game play (games like UT), where a fraction of a second matters, otherwise they are great and seem very much the equivalent of a wired mouse in non-game useage. I was hoping a BT mouse might respond a notch faster than RF wireless and feel like a wired mouse in game play.
Thanks!

I have the MS BT Mouse and Keyboard, I have not had a chance to use it with my AlBook(arrives next week) But with my Windows machine there is a small delay when you first try to use the mouse bc the mouse tries to use less power when it is left idle for a while. For the physics of the matter the electrical signal of a wired mouse is going to travel much faster than the radio signal of a BT mouse. So no matter what anyone says there has to be a delay, but the question is whether it is noticable. I don't notice it unless I'm waking it up.

I use the mouse without that POS transiever from MS. All I have is the mouse and the computer, it works great. As for lag, there is none, over the wires and bluetooth both transfer data faster than you (and probably you) can see.

I find that the batteries on my MS BlueTooth mouse last about 3 weeks on average. I suspect however that is because it is regularly stuck in my briefcase or a suitcase as I travel. That has been my biggest complaint about that mouse is there isn't any way to turn it off to save the batteries when it's not in use.

I could not agree with you more, they really need to add an off switch. I also agree that the batteries last about three weeks, however I switched now to the Enegizer Ti Technology Batteries (The e^2)
I think I have gone well over a month with normal use.
P.S. it is a pain but take the batteries out of the mouse when it is in the bag

Nope. . . just turn on Bluetooth to Discoverable and you are set.

I don't know about this one. . . but for my regular Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer it was horrible, had to change at least one ever two weeks.
I hope this one gets better battery life.
Yeah, I have heard if you use the nice batteries (Energizer or Duracel), you get significantly better battery life.

Wrong forum.
Mice are peripherals, thus you need to post threads about mice in the peripherals forum. (Unless you're talking about the little furry critters, in which case, post in the lounge.)
