Yeah.... I have never used airport... well I guess I havea the apple store
I was thinking I shoudl get it from my ibook, but how many places can you use it at?
I assume it would work at tekserve or apple store? Do you need permission to be on a network.
I go to barnes and noble a lot, do they have hot spots.
For 80 bucks, this might be a fun adventure and help me get out of my house more while I'm writing.
Thanks.

There are hotspots all over--some free, some not. I've never had any problems using my iBook in airports, hotels, whatever. I think the Airport card was worth it.

Remember, 802.11b = WiFi = AirPort.
If there's a place that PC's can surf wirelessly, chances are you'll be able to use your Mac there, too.
Aren't McDonalds and Starbucks selling access in NYC?

Didn't someone set up a free wireless network in Bryant Park?

NYU has "hotspots" now all around Washington Sq Park. You have to be an NYU student for access, however.
I use Airport at my house, and I love it (hooked up to cable modem). I can go from my bed, to the living room, to the terrace, etc. without wires and with high speeds. Nice.

3 bucks a day is pricey, but not if you're a tourist in for a few days.
For those of you who live in Minneapolis/Saint Paul there are free joints and reasonably priced services like this one that I started recently.

Scooters are more fun than computers and only slightly more frustrating

Sorry, neither starbucks nor macdonalds would be free.
With broadband, you really should put the card in and get a close-out b-base station for $20-$30. compusa has them that low on sale from time to time, elsewhere as well. It's really neat to sit at the kitchen table or in the old recliner...or on the patio?
