Dear Apple Store Customer,

Thank you for choosing the Apple Store.

With reference to your recent order, we apologise for the delay that you
have experienced in receiving this order. We plan to ship your order in the
second week of October.

This delay is due to a stock constraint and, while we regret any
inconvenience that this might have caused you, we will do our best to try
and despatch these items as soon as possible.

If we receive any update on your order, we will contact you immediately.

We appreciate your business and would like to apologise in advance
for any inconvenience.

Best regards,

The Apple Store
I ordered the day after the expo.

Reckon I could get them to give me free stuff? What argument should I use?

This is actually really annoying... I'm going home (from uni) a week on Saturday. After that I won't be home til Christmas. And Apple refuses to change the shipping address, because it has to be the same as the billing address.

That sucks... I got burnt by the Apple store this way with the original dual USB iBooks. It finally shipped after all the stores had them!

Out of interest what are you ordering? Could it be in stock elsewhere at one of the resellers, or do you have to go to Apple direct to get a special HE deal or something?

If not, it may be worth ringing around a few places...

Good luck,

Marc

Education deal, I'm afraid. Otherwise I'd have bought it from a shop.

I'm getting the 10 months interest-free credit deal, on a BTO powerbook 12" (60GB hard drive instead of 40, and Airport Extreme). Also Applecare, a printer and an iPod (to get the rebate).

My loan application went through on the 22nd, btw - after that, it's supposed to progress the same as any other Apple order.

Apple just doesn't like you and want you to be one of the last to get those Powerbooks. hahaha, j/k man, you'll get it sooner or later. I don't think Apple can give you any free stuff though, the most they can do maybe is offer you free shipping, but I'm guessing you already have that. Well... you're out of luck. Apple doesn't give out free stuff like Mac Mall or Mac Warehouse.

I guess you're right. I was just thinking of the guy on here who threatened to cancel his order and got them to give him a free wireless keyboard.

Oh well, back to waiting. At least my Pismo's still going, just about.

I'm installing Windows XP in Virtual PC as I type... it's just a little slow

Cool machine! And with the current Edu deals they have, it is so worth it too.

I just checked around a few stores online, and they all looked to be out of stock as well... they are quoting the 10/10 onwards, so your delay sounds about right.

I got a great deal on an 867 Ti for Uni in August... but I missed out on the iPod and Printer deals. The Ti is awesome, but I am a bit pissed at it as I crave an iPod these days! So at least you be happy that you got the best value for money even though there is a small delay...

I'm sure it'll be worth it...

Peace,

Marc

This arrived this morning. Previously they'd quoted second week of Oct, but now they say first week.

I'm feeling a bit better now

I got the very same 'first week' e-mail this morning (well at 1:27pm) for my BTO 15" (also ordered the day after the expo), yesterday (Thursday) I got the two week e-mail.

However don't get your hopes up, at 6:37 this evening I got this...

I'm in the same boat as you blackstealth. I ordered my BTO 15" on the 19th. Original date was the 26th, which got bumped back to today the 3rd, and no sign of it yet. If it doesnt go out on Monday I'm gonna call the phone-seller dude I talked to and see what they can do. I want a free bluetooth mouse! 3 weeks for a computer is ridiculous. I paid extra for the shipping to get it here SOON. I would cancel my order but I got the discount with the ipod so I'm kinda screwed for that if I cancel.

IT SHIPPED!

Granted, it shipped in four separate boxes and each box is with a different shipping company...

And it's still shipping to my home address, instead of my uni...

But it STILL SHIPPED!

Condolences to any of you still waiting. I hope it goes quickly for you.

Congratulations! I can only hope that the e-mail I got stating that it ought to ship in the third week is wrong...

Unfortunately the sales support line is closed on weekends so i'm gonna have to phone Apple on Monday to see what's holding mine up.

I now have a sneaking suspicion that it's the extra AC adapter I ordered thats holding it all up, as there now seems to be a 2-3 week build time on them. If that's the case then you can be sure I'll tell them to remove it from the order...

Well, if mine was, then it's not totally unlikely yours is too

I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Take a look at your order status page. It should say if products will ship as they become available, which would mean that you'd get the PB before the adapter.

My order has shipped to. It says the shipper address is in IL. Does that mean it will come in 2 days since it's not from Taiwan?

Unfortunately the order status page still lists my order as being assembled, also my confirmation e-mail had the following small print:

Note: Your order will not ship until all items are available

Well, if mine was, then it's not totally unlikely yours is too
I must have missed something, did you get a 'third week' e-mail in addition to the second and first week ones?

No... but I got a second week email, THEN a first week email, then it shipped (before the end of the first week).

So they overestimated a lot first, then brought the time back.
