Getting a new AlBook in the mail soon.

I ordered a 1.25 with Combo.

What are the first couple things I should do besides proper battery maintenance. What should I download, any cool freeware? What should I buy, an cool accessories that you can't live with out?

This will be my first Mac in 15 years.

Thanks

This is the first Powerbook i've bought, the things i've got for it so far are:

a radtech sleeve for keeping the laptop free from scratches etc http://www.radtech.us/

a laptop bag from Muji

512 RAM

Wireless Apple Keyboard

Wireless Apple Mouse

and the icurve http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/icurve/

the icurve is definately usefull if this is going to be your main computer.

cool software can be found at www.versiontracker.com.

Make sure you get mplayer and vlc, plus for p2p sharing get mImac. Don't forget Apples own Backup program which has already saved me a few headaches. Also from versiontracker is YuBurner...great freeware app which allows multisession burning unlike the OS itself.

If you want you can contact me with iChat with crackedbutter (at) mac . com or on ICQ which should be in my profile.

notice i have broken up my name on purpose.

Thank you

Do you know if the Radtech, keyboard cover (not the sleeve) will fit the new AlBooks?

I made my own sleeve out of fleece and cordura. It's very similar to the size of the radtech one, but is much more protective. It's like backpack material lined with fleece. Cost me $15 for the material, and I had enough to make one for my girlfriends ibook and a friend's HP laptop while I was at it.

Got 512 megs from Crucial

Got the little targus mini mouse with the retractable cord for $10

Wacom Tablet for use at the desk.

Does the RadTech PowerSleevz cover the whole PowerBook? Or just the screen and top/front side?

I would also suggest that you check the horrible white spots that many people (me included) have been getting. If you find them, talk to Apple, and work something out.
