I'm about to purchase a new 15 incher albook. I'm also about to head off to Japan from Australia and need to know what the situation is with voltage as I obviously dont want to damage my new PB over in Japan.
My knowledge is limited to Japan use 110v and Australia are 240v. I guess I would need a voltage converter as well as a plug adapter for when I get there. Or, Do the powerbooks allow for the user to switch the voltage within the OS?

Cheers LM

No converter needed. At most, you'll need appropiate plug adapters, the most ideal ones being the ones Apple makes that plug right into the AC adapter block.

Check the little square adapter that comes with your powerbook. On the side it should say something like Apple Japan input a/c 100-240 v. As a rule you should check all adapters to be sure. And Japan's power grid is pretty stable, I should thing- no sudden power surges...
