Just a quick question. I have to work tonight and my PB should be in soon. I hear it takes about 4 hours to charge a battery. Can I leave it to charge and go to work? Does it do any harm if the battery is fully charged and I leave it for an additional few hours?
Thanks
Brian

People often use PowerBooks plugged in full-time, removing them only for the occasional mobility. Overcharging is not an issue--go for it!
In fact, with Li batteries, it's supposedly better to charge a lot than to let the battery drain and recharge needlessly. (Although doing that sometimes keeps the battery meter more accurate.)

Not possible to overcharge them - when they are at 100% they stop charging altogether. No harm can be done so relax and enjoy.

Well, guess what! I am posting for the first time from my Powerbook. It just came in about 15 minutes ago, plugged it in and the recharger light was green. I turned it on and during the registration process, it was green. I am now in surfing and the battery light is amber but the indicator shows 100%. Should I leave it plugged in and put it in sleep mode.

It might be trickle charging, so wait a bit. If it still does not go to green, when you calibrate your battery (completely drain it until it goes to sleep let it charge until it's green) let it charge back up to 100% without interrupting the charge process. I interrupted my first calibration in the middle by accident, and it failed to notice when the battery was full and kept charging at 100%. A second calibration fixed that where I didn't interrupt the charging process.

bfurtado,
Glad you found your way here from RFD. You'll find questions answered here about Macs more accurate, though some are almost evangelical about their devotion.
Enjoy your new PB,
M.

Hey Milhaus! My goodness Its been only an hour and I am already in my kitchen surfing wirelessly and browsing my shared directories from my pc and playing some mp3s. It was sooooo simple!!! I'm a switcher. I know its VERY pleliminary but this is a much more enjoyable experience thus far. It just works.
