10.2.8 just appeared in the software update.
Who is going to be first?

Ok. I did the update. I have a rev b 17" Powerbook. I already had the 10.2.8 initial release installed so the update to build 6R73 was under a meg. Pre update the estimates were a little under two hours. Post update it gives me three plus hours. I just unplugged and will be running the battery down to re-calibrate things. Not sure if it is necessary, but it can't hurt.
A little note about my current usage. I have the processor going at full speed with the screen at maximum brightness and Airport constantly on. The only consideration I have for power conservation is that I shut off my Bluetooth.
I applied it on my friend's 15" AluBook and her estimates are about three hours also. I have a rev A 17" Powerbook at home which had estimates at about 1:30. Can't wait to see if this improves.
On a side note - I am experiencing occasional Kernal panics upon waking. Not sure if this is due to 10.2.8 or something else. More later.

I installed it on my PB 12 inch (rev a) and all appears back to be norming.
This should make many happy.
I am still going to wait until I install it on my desktop/development machine).

Someone should start a poll, along the lines of: did the new update fix your battery?
I'll wait a day or two, myself.

Rev B 17 went from 2:05 in 10.2.7 to 3:19 in 10.2.8.
So far so good.

12"pb - looking good so far, the battery meter seems to read better battery life, bluetooth status in menu bar disappeared but unchecking and rechecking the 'show in title bar' box seems to have fixed that.

Ever since I installed the update, my battery meter's worked perfectly, but I have not yet been able to connect to one Airport network, even all the ones I could while running 10.2.7. I've also gotten audio distortion through my iMicwhen my screen fades when idle, something else that wasn't a problem under 10.2.7. Anyone here have similar issues?

After the first week of 10.2.8, first three days were perfect, then kernel panic while surfin', fsck and repair permissions, then kernel panic awaking from sleep. Same process again, then re-installed 10.2.8 from combo updater (now burned to its own CD (97mb), fine for another day until wake from sleep KP because it didn't like that I left my memory stick connected in the PCMCIA adapter (never ever had a problem with this in 10.2.6)
So far re=installed 10.2.8 again 3 times; ok for a day or two then here we go again. Even froze during repair permissions a few times; must have corrupted disk utility which was fixed/replaced on re-installed. Everything I see and hear all point to networking related issues.
I have to call Apple for exchange or repair
