What size hexes (I assume not stars) do I need to take apart my 700 ibook 14"? Thanks.

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

They aren't hexes. You need a Torx T-8 for the bottom case screws. The rest are all Phillips screws.

I was looking at the plastic that cover the lid and bottom (those are torx... can't remember.)

THANKS.

Specifically which part are you trying to get at? Also, I'm assuming this is officially an "iBook 14.1" LCD"

My previously posted information was incomplete:

There are three Torx T-8 screws on the bottom case. According to Apple, if you don't have a T-8 bit, use a 5/64 inch hex bit.

There are four Torx T-6 screws on the LCD panel. According to Apple, if you don't have a T-6 bit, use a 5/32 inch hex bit.

But Apple's hex conversions don't make sense to me. since the T-6 is clearly smaller than the T-8, yet they say to use a larger hex bit with it. Perhaps they have it backwards. In any case, I would say either buy the correct T-6 and T-8 bits or just use whatever hex bit fits.

Thanks for the good information... and yes it is a 14 LCD ibook.

Just go to Sears and buy their set of precision screwdrivers (the set that includes Torx). It has all the Torx and small Phillips you need. You will also need normal size P2 and P1 Phillips screwdrivers.

Bear in mind, taking apart an iBook is a nightmarish endeavor, not for the faint of heart.
