The test here...

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=178762

...looks like something we can use to compare the 3 PBooks to each other--and to whatever we currently use. (I know the "botmatch" test is harder on the CPU than typical HUMAN multiplayer matches. Anyone know if the "Flyby" test is more typical? Or should I expect something between the two?)

I'd like to see the 12" measured in particular--the 15" has been done.

Please paste in your results for Botmtach AND Flyby--or add any other relevant tests too!

Thanks.

Related Q... is there a site anywhere that shows BenchUT2003 scores for different Macs?

I'd like scores for a new 12" and for my eMac/700/GeF2 before I decide whether to buy. And sadly, after running the test, an AppleScript error stops me from seeing the results. I'd ask what results other eMac owners get, but I figure there's probably a site (or thread) full of results somewhere already!

Then we just need to add results on the new AlBooks to compare.

TIA

The flyby simply renders the level and the items, while botmatches simulate a typical single player game with several bots. Playing online will likely be in between the two scores, as the server will be taking care of bots, but your machine has to render all the people and such.

You also have the option of turning down some effects to get some decent jumps in peformance. UT2K3 is very playable on my Powerbook.

Good to know. I may not even get UT2k3 (in fact, I'm sure I won't--UT2k4 is almost out) but it does have a standardized benchmark utility.

Now, if a PB can play Halo decently I'll be very pleased!
