I just had my logic board fail on me, just over a year after I bought it. ****ing sucks cuz I didn't get AppleCare, but I've got friends in high places that could help me out with that.

My Logic Board died ten months after I bought it. (12" 800MHz).
They turned around the logic board repair in a day, but I had to send it back a second time because I still had the backlight problem that others have been complaining about. They recieved it for the second time 10/9, and still haven't finished fixing it.
Once it gets to a week in the shop (tomorrow), I'm going to start to insist on knowing what's wrong and how long they intend on taking... The last time I called for a status update, they weren't very informative...

I just sent my iBook in to have its backlight repaired last week. I was quoted 5-7 days. Reading the board it sounds like it might end up taking a lot longer than that. Is you're still in the shop or have you gotten it back?

i had my logic board swapped back in september, about 8 months after i bought my 700mhz ibook (2002). the graphics had gone screwy and the screen would freeze up and "crawl", making the ibook unusable.
then i got it back and a couple weeks later, the sound i/o started going haywire. first no sound output, then no input either... and i could reactivate the sound by putting the ibook to sleep and waking it back up. however a few days ago, it got where i can't get any built-in sound i/o anymore at all. my edirol optical digital i/o works fine, but the built-in sound is hosed, even after a complete format and reinstall.
the weird thing is that the startup chime still works, and under os 9 i get sound too. only os x is whacked... the applecare tech said it might be the pmu going crazy... but had no idea why os 9 would work, but not os x.
so i'm sending it in for repair again tomorrow.
bummer. glad i got applecare!
